Debbie is an accomplished, inspirational and transformatory educator, and an innovative curriculum designer. She has a long-standing record of delivering stimulating learning sessions, creatively combining traditional and non-traditional interactive and participant-directed learning, which are appealing to a diverse and multi-professional learner community. In her previous roles of Head of Centre for Professional Practice, Head of Digital and Lifelong Learning, and as Director of the MSc in Advanced and Specialist Healthcare, and Reader (Associate Professor) at the University of Kent, she has promoted inter-professional transdisciplinary learning, as a means of capacity building and leveraging potential for workforce growth within health and social care organisations.

Debbie has a solid history of success in building teams and communities of practice, and supporting academics and collaborative partners to deliver excellence in teaching and course delivery. She has extensive experience in educational leadership. A proven track record of excellence in leading the development and execution of teaching and lifelong learning strategies/methodologies and disseminating best practices cross-institution and externally through research, evaluation, innovation projects and validated arrangements with healthcare organisations such has Health Education England Kent Surrey and Sussex, Health Education England Thames Valley and Wessex, Kent Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Over the course of the past 20 years, Debbie  has demonstrated expertise in building and implementing pioneering educational provision design, developing and approving new courses. This included working collaboratively  with Kent and Medway GP Fellowships, Interprofessional Education Leadership Fellowship, Health Education England (NHS England) South Region, NHS East Kent Community Education Provider Network Medway NHS Foundation Trust , and the Royal College of Surgeons (England).  Debbie is currently working with Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust to establish a credit bearing pathway for high quality Continuing Professional Devlopment provision delivered by those organisations.

As academic and Doctor of Education, Debbie has supervised over 60 masters and doctoral students to successful completion. She is research active, her current research is located in the sociology and education of workforces and the professions. Most recently Debbie led a dental workforce retention study.
