We’re updating our website

We are currently updating the ARC KSS website to reflect our new funding and the changes it brings to our programme of work.  These changes will take place over the course of the next few months.

Please bear with us while we work behind the scenes to make these improvements. We thank you for your patience.

In the meantime, if you need help finding anything, please contact spft.arcksscommunications@nhs.net

The Public Health theme cuts across the NIHR ARC, to maximise its impact on the health of the population, seeking to reduce health inequalities.

We focus on growing the body of what works to improve physical and mental health, through the prevention of ill-health and reduction of health inequalities, especially within marginalised communities and populations.

Our priories are for:

  • Effective regional working across Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS), whilst embedding national Public Health priorities; for example, working towards health changes in deprived coastal towns and rural communities
  • Understanding the specific geographic and population challenges present in KSS, with isolated refugee, looked after children, the elderly, and the economically inactive all contributing to areas of coastal and rural deprivation and its associated health risks.
  • Close working with other NIHR ARC KSS themes, Local Government, including our two Health Determinants Research Collaborations (HDRCs) in Medway and Surrey, building research capability and capacity.
