Ahead of Research Week next week (9-12 September), the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Kent, Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS) is pleased to announce the prize winners of the research poster competition.

Now in its fourth year, the 2024 poster competition recognises and celebrates research capacity impact in applied health and social care during the last five years.  Research capacity building is a key aspect of developing the researcher journey in ARC KSS and the impact from these projects paves the way for the future of applied health and social care research in the region.

Researchers throughout the region, including health and social care professionals and academics, were invited to submit a poster.  All entries were then considered by a panel of judges made up of members from the ARC KSS Organisation and Research CApacity Group (ORCA), the Developing Research Careers Group and ARC KSS Public Advisors.

Following 25 submissions, the judges awarded the following prizes:

Category of Pre-Doctoral Researcher

Winning poster prize given to the poster:  The e-PICS Project: How e-Health facilitates early detection and care planning for survivors with Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) by Mr Daniel Lai Jie, Professor Teresa Doliverira and Professor Sukhwinder Shergill, Canterbury Christ Church University.

Daniel Lai Jie said:

"It was a welcome surprise to be named one of the winners for this year's poster competition. Personally, the process of poster making has provided me a time to pause and reflect on how much the project has progressed since its ideation. I really appreciate the opportunity the ARC has given to showcase the exciting work being done in post-intensive care rehabilitation. Work made possible through the collaborative efforts between the university and critical care units across the KSS region. I am looking forward to sharing future findings and impact of this project in the next poster competition."

Runner-up prize was given to the poster: Exploring endometriosis and Physical Activity Engagement by Kate Day, University of Kent
