The Applied Research Collaboration Kent, Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS) hosted its first research symposium of 2023 on Thursday 9 February - showcasing the co-production and public community involvement and engagement journey of projects within Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Chaired by Professor Lindsay Forbes, ARC KSS Co-Lead for Public Health Practitioner Communities and Networks, the agenda included presentations from public members, researchers and PCIE facilitators from National Institute for Health and Social Care Research (NIHR) organisations, community groups and universities from across the region.
The presenters included:
- Janice Clark, ARC KSS Co-production Theme Public Advisor and Beth Harrison, a Public Community Involvement and Engagement Coordinator at ARC KSS spoke about their journey to developing public member videos.
Click here to view the presentation. - Dr Anusree Biswas Sasidharan, Director at Bridging Change and Dr Gary Hickey, Senior Research Adviser at Research Design Service South East (RDS) gave an overview about how far they were on their coproduction journey with the Reaching Out Project.

Click here to view the presentation. - Dr Khalid Ali, Reader in Geriatrics at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) gave an overview on the work he and his team are carrying out that looks at reducing medication-related harm in older people by working together.
Click here to view the presentation. - Dr Rasa Mikelyte, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Studies Services (CHSS) alongside Graham Silsbury, a lay co-applicant, who spoke about optimising Hospice at Home Care Delivery. The co-design, pilot-implementation and evaluation of an interactive online toolkit for Hospice at Home Services.
