Are you passionate about conducting ethical research in mental health? Elevate your skills and deepen your understanding with our Radical Ethics for Mental Health Research Training Programme led by renowned independent researcher and ethics expert, Dr. Helen Kara.

Join us for an engaging online training programme delving into ethics in mental health research. This unique opportunity, presented by the ARC North Thames Academy Mental Health Research for All project, is designed to raise your awareness of why and how to think and act ethically in practice throughout your research work. The current system of ethical review by committee can lead to the misleading sense of having ‘done ethics’. This course shows you how to conduct research which is as ethical as possible from start to finish.

This training programme consists of two online sessions taking place on July 1st and 2nd, 2024, both from 1pm to 4pm. All attendees must be available to attend both sessions.

Why Attend:

  • Cutting-Edge Insights: Gain profound insights into ethical considerations throughout the research process, ensuring high-quality research outcomes.

  • Practical Applications: Dive into participatory activities and discussions to apply ethical principles directly to your research practice.

  • Engaging Content: Immerse yourself in thought-provoking presentations and videos curated to stimulate critical thinking on research ethics.

  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with fellow mental health professionals committed to ethical research practices.

This training programme will be led by Dr Helen Kara. Dr Helen Kara FAcSS has been an independent researcher since 1999, working primarily in social care and health, with experience of criminal justice, education, and the third sector. Her clients have included local, regional and national government departments and bodies, and statutory and third sector organisations and partnerships. She has employment experience from the private, statutory and third sectors. Helen writes on research methods and ethics and teaches research methods and ethics in universities and other organisations around the world.

Please note that we intend to limit the cohort size to 20 places and applications will be shortlisted with priority given to colleagues in the North Thames region who work in mental health. As demand is expected to be high, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible if you would like to participate.

Apply now by completing this short application form.  Applications close at midnight on Sunday 9th June 2024.

What to Expect:
