Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration, Kent, Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS) are pleased to host this joint event for early career researchers in the region taking place on 14 May 2024 at University of Sussex campus, Falmer, Brighton BN1 9SN .

Dr Liz Ford, Reader in Health Data Science at BSMS and ARC KSS Data Science Lead will present insights into the importance of applied research in terms of goals, opportunities and challenges for rural and coastal communities.

Key to successful applied research is inclusivity and community engagement which will be presented from the perspective of the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. As well as networking opportunities and round table discussions, you will also be able to find out about how the ARC KSS Academy can support you as a developing researcher.

The overall aim of this event is to strengthen collaboration and co-produce research between BSMS and ARC KSS; to collectively address priority research agendas within health sciences and social care; and to develop a cross-institutional environment for early career researchers in which they can flourish and achieve their full potential.
