Salmaan Ansari
Miscellaneous Information

Salmaan joined ARC KSS in February 2023 as a Ph.D student in Applied Health Research, hosted by the University of Kent.

Salmaan is keen on carrying out research to find out what challenges those who have long-term medical conditions encounter in terms of their physical, mental, and cognitive health.

As part of his PhD, he will be focusing on highly vulnerable areas like coastal communities in southeast England. He hopes that the results will draw attention to the health system regarding the health-related challenges of people living with one or more than one long-term condition and highlight the significant strength that coastal communities should have in terms of good well-being.

Salmaan completed his undergraduate degree (B.Sc. Hons.) in Statistics from Aligarh Muslim University in India. Then after, he moved to his postgraduate degree (M.Sc.) in Biostatistics & Demography from International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) in Mumbai, India. Here, he also completed his M.Phil. degree and worked to examine how long-term chronic conditions contribute to poor mental health among the older population in India. After completing his M.Phil. degree, he worked for one year as a Senior Research Officer in a project funded by IIPS and collaborated with the Centre for Cancer Epidemiology (CCE), TATA Memorial Centre in Mumbai, India. The focus of the project was to assess and project the cancer burden in Maharashtra, India. Salman also contributed to the collaborative published research articles focusing on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), multimorbidity, mental health, cognitive health, reproductive health, poverty and nutrition.
