Louise Lacey is a Research Theme Manager at the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Kent, Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS), supporting delivery across Public and Community Involvement and Engagement (PCIE), Research Inclusion, and the Early Years & Parenting theme.

Lou works closely with Theme Leads, researchers, public contributors, community partners and health and care stakeholders to strengthen meaningful involvement and engagement in research, support inclusive research practices, and help ensure ARC KSS research reflects the needs and priorities of the diverse communities it serves.

Her role includes supporting programme delivery, governance, partnership working and impact reporting, as well as developing approaches that embed public involvement, community engagement and research inclusion across ARC KSS activities. She is particularly passionate about creating opportunities for people and communities to influence research in ways that are meaningful, accessible and impactful.

Prior to joining ARC KSS, Lou worked across a range of NHS-commissioned public health programmes, including NHS Health Checks, the National Diabetes Prevention Programme, weight management services and holistic lifestyle support programmes. Lou played a key role in delivering innovative NHS diabetes prevention and remission initiatives across Sussex, working collaboratively with Integrated Care System partners, primary care and community providers to improve population health outcomes.

Lou is a Registered Associate Nutritionist (AfN), Mental Health First Aider and Trustee of a local food bank. She is passionate about bringing people together to improve research and health outcomes, ensuring that lived experience and community perspectives help shape meaningful, inclusive and impactful research.
