Stacey’s role in the ARC KSS is focussed on social care capacity building, both within the region and supporting the national social care capacity building community. In this role, she works closely with the social care theme leads (Prof. Ann-Marie Towers and Julien Forder) and capacity building leads (Prof. Sally Kendall and Dr Julie McInnes).

She is also a senior research fellow at the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU), University of Kent. As a social care researcher with over 14 years’ experience, she has led multiple grants as principal investigator and been a collaborator on various national and international projects. Her work has included the development and use of adapted or new versions of the Adult Social Care Outcomes Toolkit (ASCOT) for measuring the social care outcomes of adults with support needs and their carers, as well as the development of the EQ-HWB. She is also a co-applicant on the NIHR-funded Quality, Safety and Outcomes Policy Research Unit (QSO-PRU).

Her research interests and expertise include:

  • Quality, safety and outcomes of adult social care (ASC)
  • Measurement and application of social care outcomes
  • The role of ASC in supporting unpaid carers
  • Community-based ASC, including homecare and services provided by VCSOs
