Dr Ali Schmidt

Research Assistant (CATALYST)

Dr Ali Schmidt

Ali joined the ARC KSS Starting Well team in March 2025. Prior to this, she completed her PhD at the University of Sussex investigating predictors of development and psychological treatment outcomes for common mental health problems in adults.

Ali’s research interest lies in understanding and improvement of mental health problems across the life course, with a particular interest in the role of modifiable factors, such as loneliness and self-compassion. In addition, she has worked in various teaching roles at the University including as lecturer and module convenor for ‘Depression in Adolescents’ and has coordinated a team of Psychology student mentors for several years.
