Damla is a PhD researcher in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

Damla undertook both her undergraduate and postgraduate training at the University of Leeds, where she completed a BA in Politics and Sociology, and a MA in Social and Political Thought. Her current work aims to investigate the interrelations between vulnerable young people’s substance use, sexual health and mental health in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Through a co-productive lens, this project will aim to increase engagement with existing services and improve vulnerable young people’s mental and sexual health outcomes. 

Damla’s research interests include the sociology of medicine, vulnerable populations, life-course theory, and primary care and health services.
