Daina is a podiatrist with a background in acute diabetes related foot complications. She is currently undertaking a PhD part time at the University of Surrey. 

PhD title is ‘The KSS FootPrint Study: Co-creating digital innovation in diabetic foot disease management to enhance care and build research capacity 

Daina completed her undergraduate education at the University of South Australia, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Podiatry. She went onto complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Wound Care at Monash University whilst practising in rural Australia. 

Since relocating to the United Kingdom, she has worked in community, secondary and tertiary podiatric NHS services and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Biomechanics at Staffordshire University. In 2017, she was successfully appointed to the Diabetes UK Clinical Champion programme. Her project focussed on patient pathways to a multidisciplinary foot team and was published in the Journal of Wound Care in 2021. Daina continues to work within the NHS as the Head of Podiatry and Orthotics at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. 

Daina’s research will further explore patient pathways to multidisciplinary foot teams for those living with acute diabetes related foot complications within Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Her research will support the NIHR ARC KSS themes of co-production and digital innovation.’
