Brontë McDonald
Miscellaneous Information

Brontë McDonald is a first year Psychology PhD student at University of Sussex and is funded by the ARC KSS to research school absenteeism. She will be working, with her supervisor Daniel Michelson and Kathryn Lester, towards developing an intervention that supports young children after their long-term absences due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Previously, Brontë was a primary school teacher and worked with children across the key stages. This involved planning and implementing an engaging and inclusive curriculum as well as supporting children’s mental and emotional development. Throughout her time teaching, Brontë completed her PgCert in Specific Learning Needs (Dyslexia). This led her to provide 1:1 tutoring for children with dyslexia by designing tailored intervention plans. In 2018, she started her Masters in Experimental Psychology at University of Sussex. She undertook research into the effects of counter-stereotypical sport of girl’s self-esteem, self-worth and stereotypes.
